Below are two mock-up sketches demonstrating how I plan to create my magazine along with a brief description of each:

This is the sketch I have made which will resemble my final magazine front cover. I plan to have the masthead in green text boldly placed along the top of the magazine, making it clear and easy to read. The main colours I will use in my magazine will be green, black and white so the colour scheme is kept simple and not too cluttered with colour. I plan to have a image of a girl as the front cover in a mid-shot. Along with the main image I plan to have a smaller image on the right hand side of the page to attract readers and show that the magazine contains a variety of different music focusses. Along with other cover lines and free posters. I plan for the main image to be looking directly at the camera to attract the audience and make them feel connected with the image. The cover lines I plan to have in white, green and black to link with the general house style of the magazine.

I plan to have the masthead across the top of the page, similar to the front page. Also having the text in green writing. I plan for the page numbers to be in green and the other copy in black, white or green. I have chosen to use 3 columns on my contents page to make it easier for the audience to read and understand. I chose to have a long shot of the main feature to show the full image rather than only a mid-shot on the front cover, this gives an insight into what type of genre the music the main image is associated with by the clothes the model is planned to wear. I chose to have several images columned at the bottom of the page to show the audience what else is included in the magazine and attract them into what else could possibly be in the magazine.

This is a mock-up of my double page spread. I plan to have an image of a boy covering his face on the left hand side of the spread to indicate the celebrity used wants to hide something about him; this will attract the audience to want to read the article. I plan to have the celebrities name in bold and in green so the readers will immediately know who the image is of. I plan to include a stand first so the audience know who the article is about along with a little extra information. I also plan to use a pull quote to attract the audience to read the article.

The chart below shows some of the feedback I received from my front cover:
The question was 'Do you like the image planned to be used on the front cover?'
This shows that all the subjects that completed my survey agreed that the image I planned to use on the front cover was a good choice, therefore, I plan to stick to the sketch I made and take the photograph in this way. Also, I will stick to the text positioning I chose.

The chart below shows some of the feedback I received about my contents page layout:
The question is 'Do you like the layout of the contents page?'
This shows that the majority of people thought there was too much on my contents page, therefore in my design I will reduce the images on the contents page from the seven I planned to use to four images.

The chart below shows feedback I received about my double page spread:
The question is 'Do you like the image planned to be used on the double page spread?'
This shows that all of the audience who provided feedback thought that the photograph was good and therefore will not be changed.

Shot plans:

Shot Plans

These are the shot plans I plan to use for my magazine. These include all photographs I plan to take. Please click the image to view the annotations in Flickr where they are clearly typed.

Although the majority of the plans were successful, one of the shots was changed. The plan of the editor being in a close shot didn't work as there was no place to put the text around him. I therefore had to take a mid-shot where the text was easily placed around his body and looked better overall.
