Prelim Task

Preliminary exercise: using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally you must produce a mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate your grasp of the program.

Please follow the link below to complete my survey about my college magazine:

Below are the college magazine templates I created for my preliminary task:

Below is one of the most important questions' results I asked in my survey. This shows the most popular choices of what people would like to see in their college magazine were:

  • Photographs from outside college events
  • Information on upcoming events
  • Future menu's for The Hub
This is why on the front cover, I chose to mention about 'The Hub' which would attract the readers who want to know more information about it. Also, as people wanted to see information on upcoming events, I chose to place the Netball article on the front page which would benefit those who wanted to know about upcoming events. This bar chart shows the audience feedback on this question I recieved.

This is another graph to show some of the results I obtained by doing an online survey. The question was 'How much would you be prepared to pay for a college magazine?'

The majority of results I collected were the 'Under 50p' option.

Therefore I chose to price my magazine at 50p.
